A new generation of "solar roof tiles" is born, able to better resist bad weather and produce more energy

Solar Roof is Elon Musk's visionary project that plans to transform the roofs of homes into renewable energy sources, through the installation of tiles made up of solar panels, capable of absorbing sunlight and transforming it into clean energy. The launch of the first series of solar shingles revealed some flaws and weaknesses in the technology - such as, for example, water infiltration between the shingles due to rain and snow that undermine the efficiency of the panels, or the scarce amount of energy produced, often insufficient to meet the energy needs of a home (especially in the winter months, when the sun is less present).

This is why the tech company has announced the launch on the market of new tiles, more efficient and powerful than the previous ones, as well as more adaptable to different types of roof. The new tiles have a energy output of 71.76 watts - 22% more than the previously developed tiles, of the same size: this will allow to obtain much more energy at the same level with a smaller number of tiles installed on a roof, which will be mounted perhaps in those areas of the surface most affected by the sun. It will be possible to alternate tiles consisting of solar panels and traditional tiles (which will not seem at all different from each other): using fewer solar panels will simplify the assembly process, as fewer electrical connections will be required.

The design of Tesla tiles is enviable - and this makes them particularly attractive despite the rather high price which, however, the producers assure, will not discourage sales and which will be fully amortized by the energy produced, saving on the monthly electricity bill. Added to this is a greater resistance of the tiles, which ensures their durability over time in all climatic conditions. Finally, Tesla also provides a mobile application, with which to monitor the panels and their energy production in real time (even remotely). It can be added to the Solar Roof Powerwall, a compact battery that stores energy obtained from the sun and not used at the moment, making it available when the sun is not there or in the event of a blackout.
