A temporary urban forest consisting of 15 thousand trees arose in the heart of Paris starting from last September 15th and can be visited by citizens and tourists until next September 23rd. It's about a ephemeral forest (as it was called by the Parisians) formed by real trees which will later be transplanted to the countryside. It is part of an initiative aimed at raising citizens' awareness of the issue of green areas andpollution in the city.

The idea was born from a collaboration between France Bois Forêt and the Office National Des Forêts, not only with the aim of reviving the French capital, but also in order to bring young people to the rediscovery of green professions. The trees of the forest, which currently find their place davanti a Palais-Royal, will later be transplanted to rural areas in view of a project of reforestation.

The Parisian forest includes at least 150 different tree species, of which anyone in Paris will be able to admire the colors and shapes, as well as be able to enjoy their scents and the positive effect of their presence on the air quality of the metropolis, from which diesel vehicles could soon be banned, considered particularly polluting.

The forest has found space in Paris starting from the European days dedicated to the cultural and environmental heritage of the nation on 15 and 16 September. Observing the plants that compose it, among which they are included 350 large trees, visitors will be able to discover and become aware of the extraordinary French forest heritage, to which a photographic exhibition designed for both artistic and pedagogical purposes is also dedicated.

The making of the Parisian temporary forest was curated with the collaboration of the French Ministry of Agriculture, which is committed to offering citizens the opportunity to rediscover the aromas, essences and tree varieties present in France, also placing the accent on the world of professions linked to protection of woods and forests, respect for the environment and green heritage.
