    Switzerland, anti-pollution traffic lights arrive

"Gold" traffic light, steps. "Black" traffic light, no. This is the idea launched in recent days by the Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (Datec). Starting in the next few months (the start date of the measure has not yet been communicated), the Swiss cities will implement the debut of the entry system in urban areas "with stamps" following the creation, in the cities, of "environmental areas".

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him. "Gold" traffic light, pass. "Black" traffic light, no. This is the idea launched in recent days by Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (Datec). Starting from next few months (the start date of the measure has not yet been communicated) the Swiss cities will implement the debut of the "stamp" entry system in urban areas following the creation, in the cities, of "Environmental areas".

In all likelihood, in fact, the illustration given by the heads of the Department regarding a "pollution traffic light" is more graphics than practice. According to what has been learned in recent days, in fact, the project under study provides for the release of a mark to all vehicles in circulation, based on the amount of emissions of each of them, which will be "translated" according to a colored code.

Thus, it will go by a color mark black (to be applied to very polluting vehicles), to a colored one Grey, White and gold, which vehicle owners a very low pollution, first of all those whose main traction is power. In short, the cars that currently play the lion's share in the cities' campaign against pollution.

The project, which kicks off a decidedly eco-friendly policy initiated by Switzerland, will allow the cantonal authorities to establish which vehicles they will be able to access inside the environmental areas and which, on the contrary, will remain outside them.

These days, the legislation is under consideration local administrations, which are called upon to provide their own assessments on the criteria for limiting vehicular traffic based on pollution. This phase, which will end at the end of November, will make it possible to draw up a list of the "good guys" and "bad guys". That is to say, the indication of which vehicles will have access to the environmental areas, or the areas in which the "traffic light sign" will be in force.
