In fact, this time too, the Ministry of Health has created the National Program for the prevention of health risks from heat waves - Summer 2010, developed with the support of the National Civil Protection Department, Regions and Municipalities.

Also this time in fact, the Ministry of Health made the National program for the prevention of health risks from heat waves - Summer 2010, developed with the support of the National Civil Protection Department, Regions and Municipalities.



    It is a series of initiatives, rules and advice aimed at citizens, to avoid incur damage resulting from summer heat and humidity, which threatens to affect children, the elderly, people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, lonely and abandoned people.
    Among the rules of the vademecum:

    • leave the house in the less hot hours of the day (from 11 to 18)
    • dress up with light, loose, cotton clothing, protect your head with gods light colored hats, sunglasses e sunscreen.
    • never leave people either animals in the car parked in the sun (not even for a few minutes) and before getting into the car, let it ventilate.
    • darken the windows of home and office with heavy curtains, open the windows early in the morning, in the evening and at night and keep them closed during the hottest hours.
    • use i correctly air conditioners; clean the filters well and adjust the temperature to 24-26 degrees.
    • drink a lot water and sugary drinks, eat a lot fruits and vegetables colored, avoid alcoholic beverages.
    • eat lightly, avoid fat and be careful of food preservation easily altered with temperatures: dairy products, ice cream, frozen foods, meats and sweets.
    • keep i drugs in cool and dry places.
    • pay attention and care to the elderly or people at risk who may need help in the hottest hours.

    In addition to the vademecum for citizens, the ministry has also drawn up a warning and prevention system, to establish in advance the arrival of a heat wave and inform both local operators than the population. Operational until September 15, 2010, it is active in the main urban centers.
