Only a fraction of WEEE electrical and electronic waste is collected and disposed of or recycled properly. Many devices end up in landfills if not abandoned along roads, embankments and ditches or other places where they really shouldn't be.
Hence the idea of giving new life to some components of electronic devices to create eco-jewels. Amanda Preske is an artist who is part of the Circuit Breaker Labs in New York. For her passion, she started creating eco-jewels from the recovery of old cell phones, monitors, calculators and office phones they transform into necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and key rings.
His idea is to make good use of electronic devices when they become obsolete and therefore are put aside. Some of his eco-jewels contain silver parts, but it is always recycled silver.

Amanda has a PhD in chemistry but she also has a great passion for everything that is handmade. She knows how to create candles, cross-stitch, sew and paint but making jewelry is the most satisfying pastime.

The idea was born a few years ago, when she happened to help her brother while he was repairing an old computer. Amanda has learned to recover and clean up the parts of electronic devices suitable for creating handmade jewelry and now her bijoux are increasingly appreciated. Her creations are for sale on Etsy.
