Share the photovoltaic from home to home, enjoying the benefits of electricity produced by the sun but without necessarily installing the panels on your roof. An initiative that is already a reality in the United States, making solar energy “social”.

In fact, it is called "social sharing network"The new proposal of Yeloha, an Israeli startup that has set up one peer-to-peer solar sharing network. It will allow anyone to receive the benefits of solar energy directly at home through the purchase of one subscription at a cheaper price than the cost of electricity traditionally supplied by fossil fuels.

Yeloha raised $ 3,5 million to launch the solar sharing network platform in the United States, co-founder revealed Amit Rosner. The service is currently only available in Massachusetts by invitation, but the company plans to expand it to other states soon.

One of the biggest obstacles to the wider adoption of PV continues to be the initial cost, which for some may be unaffordable. Consequently, despite knowing and admiring solar energy, it is not possible to afford it despite the long-term advantages.

But there are also those who do not have an adequate roof for the installation of photovoltaic panels. How then to involve these categories of people in this energy revolution?

Just the sharing. In the era of the sharing economy it seems more obvious than ever, but time has passed from theory to practice. If it is easy to share cars, houses and even power tools with complete strangers, now it is possible to do so with clean energy too.

How does social sharing in Massachusetts work? Consumers are divided into two groups: host e partner. Rooftop owners can register as a photovoltaic homeowner (host) and install solar panels for free by sharing a portion of the solar energy they generate. Residents whose roofs are shaded or who still live in the apartment or do not want to install panels, with a simple click can become a “Sun partner” and buy solar energy directly from the producer hosts. A simple, peer-to-peer system that bypasses numerous obstacles, guaranteeing both the reduction of electricity bills and the emissions saved to the atmosphere.

"Most people don't choose solar, it's too complicated or expensive", said Rosner. "Our mission is to create and accelerate the confluence of the sharing of the economy and solar energy" added.

The era of sharing has a new protagonist: the sun.
