In Milan it is a successful experiment and in Lausanne the same. In the capital of fashion, the vertical forest in a skyscraper has become a consolidated reality for some years, while in the Swiss city, the Tour de Cedres, or the tower of the cedars, thanks to its shapes and iridescent colors, has become a landmark in the landscape of the Lake Geneva. Then there are Nanjing, Utrecht, Tirana and Paris.

To improve urban quality and increase biodiversity in the city, we are now getting married in the Netherlands where the first vertical forest will be built. social housing and therefore aimed at popular users and in particular at young couples.

The tower will house in its 19 floors apartments with controlled rent, which on the balconies will have hundreds of trees and plants of the most varied species.

“The Eindhoven skyscraper confirms the possibility of combining the great challenges of climate change with those of housing deprivation. Urban forestation is not only a necessity to improve the environment of cities around the world, but an opportunity to improve the living conditions of the less well-off citizens ”declares Stefano Boeri.

125 housing units in all with apartments of less than 50sqm which will have a tree, 20 bushes and more than 4sqm of terrace. The Trudo Vertical Forest, this is its name, will be a 75-meter skyscraper that will host 125 trees and 5.200 shrubs and plants on the facades.

The goal is always to create in a metropolitan environment, a green habitat for the development of biodiversity, a real ecosystem with over 70 different plant species able to combat air pollution, thanks to the ability of trees to absorb more than 50 tons of carbon dioxide every year.

As always. the characteristic of the buildings is that of conceiving vegetation and living nature as constitutive and not just ornamental elements of architecture.
