Shima enaga: the small Japanese birds that look like flying cotton balls

It is very small and very tender: this little bird that lives on the island of Hokkaido, in Japan, gives the impression of a very soft cotton ball.

It is very small and of an embarrassing tenderness: this little bird that lives on the island of Hokkaido, in Japan, just seeing it gives the impression of a very soft cotton ball.

Commonly known as Shima enaga (scientific name Aegithalos caudatus), is a type of long-tailed sparrow (in English it is in fact also known as Long-tailed), of which many subspecies can also be seen in Europe.

The Japanese island of Hokkaido is rich in preserved wildlife making it the perfect home for the long-tailed Shima enaga, but also for the flying squirrel, the cutest animal in the world:

The Long-tailed's habitat usually consists of deciduous and mixed woodlands, but these delightful feathers also love river meadows, farmland, parks and gardens. They are found in all kinds of colors, in Japan especially in black and white (such as to make them look like balls ...), and their characteristic is that they have a really tiny body, but easy to recognize thanks to the long tails.

It is one of the most adorable garden birds

Lastly, long-tailed tit are birds that use vocal call a lot: during their movements, they keep in constant vocal contact. A sort of hissing srih-srih-srih, which becomes louder and faster when a specimen is isolated or is walking along stretches of open ground.
