Sesame oil withdrawn due to the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

    The Ministry of Health recalled a batch of toasted sesame oil due to the presence of aromatic polycyclic hydrocarbons

    Containing sesame oil polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. New food alert from the Ministry of Health. The authorities recalled from the market a type of oil containing dangerous PAHs.





    The recalled product is marketed by Taico and belongs to the OH AIK GUAN brand based in Singapore.

    The recall relates in particular to the 5 l tank It is a single lot characterized by the following expiry date: 15/05/2022.

    The Ministry of Health recommends that sales be stopped immediately:

    “If you have any pieces of this lot in stock or for sale, please stop selling and / or using them immediately. If you have distributed the product to third parties, please inform them promptly ”reads the official notice.

    Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, what they are

    These are hydrocarbons that have harmful effects on both the environment and human and animal health. Some PAHs have been classified by the IARC as "probable" or "possible human carcinogens". These include benzo (a) pyrene, considered carcinogenic.
