A new magnet, capable of identifying plastics and separating waste according to the polymers and substances of which they are composed: a way to facilitate, speed up and make more efficient the differentiated management of waste. This is the brilliant idea of a company in Imola, Plasticsort, which intends to carry out an avant-garde engineering project that will revolutionize the separation system of materials.
Using the same principle of the magnet, already used to separate the iron byaluminum, Plasticsort - the company founded by Stefano Cassani - will allow in some time to separate more quickly and efficiently other types of materials.
In practice, the machine developed by Plasticsort is based on the same principle as the "energy field", which allows you to attract or repel a piece of plastic (but also of paper) in a different way, based on the different nature of the polymer. Basically: given a certain energy field, there are different reactions for each material.
And already for next spring the company intends to arrive on the market, with a complete plant, able to manage large volumes and diversify waste on different conveyor belts.
“Last year - said Cassani - we studied i patents of the competition, in January realized the first prototype which allowed us to verify the validity of our technology and prompted us to protect it by patent. In March we produced a second prototype, with which we participated in the competition 'The talent of ideas' organized by Confindustria and Unicredit, which saw us third in the Emilia-Romagna Tuscany district and therefore winners at national level, a sign that in the following months there had been a lot of movement around the idea".
Among the most promising sectors of this new machine, we remember the PET, used to package beverages, ei WEEE, i.e. waste electrical and electronic equipment.
