This timelapse captures the last sandstorm that hit Beijing yesterday, May 6, 2021. The images show how the view of the China World Trade Center in Beijing is gradually blurred until it is totally obscured.
According to the Beijing Meteorological Observatory, wind gusts in the Haidian and Shijingshan districts reached nearly 70 km / h.
Large sandstorms occurred in April and March, causing air pollution levels to skyrocket.
Chen Tao, chief of forecasting at the National Meteorological Center, said:
The strong wind this year is closely related to the activity of the Mongolian cyclone. Cyclones in Mongolia are more frequent this year, which has a noticeable impact on northern parts of China.
