Sea Chair Project: chairs created with plastic collected from the ocean

Sea Chair Project. Plastic is one of the main materials that contribute to aggravating the pollution of seas and oceans, managing to lead to the formation, month after month, of real islands of waste. Aquatic pollution is caused both by the visible presence of real waste, and by what derives from their degradation, that is, by microscopic residues that can be patiently recovered.

La plastic represents one of the main materials that contribute to aggravate thepollution by seas ed oceans, managing to lead to the training, month after month, of real iwaste sun. Aquatic pollution is caused both by the visible presence of real waste, and by what derives from their degradation, that is from microscopic residues that with patience can be recovered.

In this regard, the Sea Chair Project represents an artistic project that has both the aim of conveying attention to the water pollution caused by plastic, and the aim of recover polluting materials to turn them into useful items. Three young British artists have created a machine capable of reducing plastic waste into materials that can be used for creative projects.

The residues, which can have the most different colors (the darkest are the direct consequence of the pollution caused by Petroleum), are collected and used for the realization of chairs and stools. Kieren Jones, one of the three artists, began collecting litter after visiting one of Britain's most polluted beaches.

Collecting sea water with a bucket, he realized the presence of floating particles, now tiny, the size of a grain of sand, which were nothing more than residues of plastic waste. The group has readjusted a existing machinery so that it could prove useful for collecting plastic particles.

The machine can be easily transported on a boat to be used directly offshore and the trio of artists is already working towards this after receiving borrowed a boat from a former fisherman.
