Salad in a bag, convenience rhymes with quality

Loose salad of dubious origin to be placed in a plastic bag, or salad already washed, cut and placed in the usual plastic bag? Yes, of course, the one from the grandfather's garden is better. But there are also good solutions for those who have no gardens or grandparents.

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Long live the comforts. This would have thought the mothers of today, always in a hurry and super busy between home, work, children and husband, in the face of the recent invention ofsalad in envelope. Vegetables already washed and cut, ready for the table. Of course, it will not be the best of health this salad, they will also have thought. But hurry and tiredness always take over, and so, “what a salad in a bag it is”.

I must admit that I have always had reservations about all the vegetables "implanted", packaged, washed, dried, seasoned. I don't trust much. And in fact the studies conducted by some laboratories, as well as the surveys of consumer associations and ecologists, make me think that I am not the only one who doubts this “convenient side dish”.

What to choose then? Loose salad of dubious origin to be placed in a plastic bag, or salad already washed, cut and placed in the usual plastic bag?

Salad in a bag, convenience rhymes with qualityYes, of course, the one from the grandfather's garden is better. But there are also good solutions for those who have no gardens or grandparents. The Venetian company Ortoromi launches My Salad on the market: an evolution of the first range salad, that is a salad not subjected to washing like its fourth range sisters, which is collection, selected and bagged on the same day directly in serra. Furthermore, the envelope is made with paper and PLA, a derivative of corn completely biodegradable and disposable in the paper. The packaging therefore consists of natural materials 100%: it does not pollute and does not alter the taste and quality of the salad. The Ortoromi salad comes from crops guaranteed in raw materials and traceability, because they ensure a continuous control in all the steps of the shortened supply chain. Orthoromas also, in collaboration with Legambiente, aims to reduce the use of chemicals andabolition of GMOs, trying to offer high quality products that respect the environment and nature and that preserve the taste of local products.

This is certainly not the only example of an organic salad in a bag: the Despar Organic Mixed Salad, for example, combines different types of salad, fromcurly endive al red chicory from Chioggia, in the same package and is also a product of organic agriculture that respects the seasonality of vegetables and minimizes the use of fertilizers and other chemical compounds.

In this case we can finally say that quality rhymes with comfort, and we don't mind at all!
