Rosita, the hedgehog who was choking on a rubber band was rescued by volunteers from a recovery center

The hedgehog saved with an operation to remove the elastic that choked him rekindles the theme of the damage of pollution on animals

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

A few weeks ago at the “La Ninna” Ricci Recovery Center in Novello in Piedmont, a hedgehog nicknamed Rosita arrived (only to discover that it was actually a male) injured and with respiratory problems. Fortunately, the volunteers of the center managed to save him by discovering that, around his neck, he had a rubber band that like a noose prevented the animal from breathing.

Pollution, especially that due to the use of plastic, is a serious problem that involves a series of dramatic consequences also for animals and not just marine ones.

This is the case of Rosita who was breathing badly because of an elastic that tightened her throat, evidently a refusal that the animal had encountered along its way. A refusal that, of course, should not have been on the ground and that seriously endangered the hedgehog's life.

Only thanks to the foresight of the volunteers of the Recovery Center for hedgehogs was the presence of the elastic ring around the animal's neck discovered but fortunately, with a delicate intervention, it was possible to remove it.

To tell the story is a post on Facebook published by the page of the recovery center with a lot of videos (which were also followed by updates) in which we can see the hedgehog during the operation and then safe and sound.

The volunteer who freed him from the noose wanted us to underline some details and launch an appeal:

“Think about how much she must have suffered, surely it was more than a month that she had that noose around her neck that was suffocating her. We want to realize the damage and terrible suffering we cause to animals by filling the environment with plastic and all kinds of garbage ..?!?  A tiny rubber band was about to choke a little hedgehog to death in a slow and very long agony! NB: let's try not to use plastic anymore, to avoid throwing it around and collecting it from the environment! "

Come on, beautiful Rosita you will see that you will soon flourish again ...? ❤️You should see how he 'mogul 'tonight, a cub ...? SHARE ERRATA CORRIGE: Rosita is actually a boy, it's the first time I've seen her belly too, we never sedated her except to have the surgery and establishing the baby's sex was secondary to his very serious problem ... I was wrong ... But who cares, the important thing is that he is okay now .. ???

Fortunately Rosita / o is fine and out of danger but how many other defenseless animals have to suffer from plastic and other pollutants scattered in the environment?
