Rewashlamp: the lamps obtained from the recycling of the washing machine

Unfortunately, until now, the fate of any washing machine that is no longer functioning seemed sadly sealed, like that of any similar large appliance that was out of order and not repairable. However, someone has found a way to reuse the internal gears of washing machines to create real artistic creations, which are really worth admiring. These are imaginative design lamps, born from an idea of the Portuguese To Martins.

Unfortunately, so far the fate of any washing machine that is no longer functioning seemed sadly sealed, like that of any large analogue household appliance out of order and not repairable. But someone has found a way to reuse the internal gears of the washing machinesi to create real artistic creations, which are really worth admiring. These are imaginative design lamps, born from an idea of the Portuguese To Martins.

The designer has managed to reuse different materials from the old washing machines for the construction of floor lamps, which rest on adjustable pedestals similar to those used by photographers. The lampshades are made with fabrics or other waste materials characterized by colorful colors and different textures, so that the innovative light sources can prove to be suitable for different environments, from common homes, to commercial establishments, to offices.

The height of the lamps is adjustable, so that it can be varied according to the space available in the room where you want to place them. The fabrics used for the lampshades are synthetic and each lamp is equipped with an energy saving bulb. The production process of the lamps takes place in a completely manual and artisanal way, in order to reduce the energy consumption necessary for the same.

Rewashlamp: the lamps obtained from the recycling of the washing machine

The lamps are Customizable and adaptable to the tastes of the buyers. Production is currently limited and they are mainly made on request, always exclusively starting from recovered materials. At the project, called REWASHLAMP, a website is dedicated, where you can admire the creations of the Portuguese designer.

The lamps follow the fashion of the moment, with their bold lines and bright colors, while at the same time helping to revive materials that would probably have ended up piling up in the already overloaded landfills of the world. They represent further proof of how, even starting from the humblest raw materials, it is possible to give life to real examples of contemporary design.
