Packaging that becomes points that can be spent in shops: this is the initiative behind the idea 'Reduce, Recycle, Reward'of the Municipality of Ciampino, which inaugurated the second one this week eco-compactor for packaging of 'Greeny' project.
The project, which started in May, has received the interest and participation of citizens, so much so as to push the Municipality to install a second eco-compactor (after the first of the end of May), in the presence of children of class 4B of the Elementary School 'Paola Sarro', all equipped with plastic bottles and posters, jobs and themes made with their teachers on the theme of separate collection.
"From May until today - said the Mayor of Ciampino Giovanni Terzulli - PET bottles collected in the Municipality of Ciampino with the machine in via Mura dei Francesi are approx 100 thousand, as provided by the reporting system of the Greeny - Eurven Eco-Compactor. With the addition of this new machine, it will be possible to further increase the amount of plastic already recycled every month ”.

All citizens have to do is take to the eco-compactors (one in via Mura dei Francesi and the other in Piazza JFKennedy) the PET plastic containers, typically bottles of mineral water, fruit juices, milk, soft drinks, receiving in exchange a receipt corresponding to the number of packages deposited, and which in fact becomes for them a discount bonus, Named ecopoint, which can be spent in various shops, increased from May to today.
The initiative follows that proposed by some supermarket chains, especially in Central European countries, and pushes the population to a active participation on the topic of sustainability and waste minimization. Yes, with a cash incentive, in order to show everyone how separate collection has a actual value.

The project, which started mainly with educational purposes, was also explained to elementary school children, who, followed by their teachers, brought their ideas on separate collection and we hope they can take care of our Planet Earth better.
