Swifts need us to survive! In Ragusa hundreds of specimens have collapsed from their nests due to the record heat and disinfestation. Now the RagusAttiva collective is looking for volunteers to take care of them and feed them and then release them into nature
The scorching temperatures of recent days are putting a strain on not only humans, but also many animals, especially those that populate our cities. In some areas of Sicily 40 ° C has been exceeded and in Ragusa over 700 swifts have fallen from their nests, literally collapsed, due to the record heat and wild pest control activities. And many of these have also ended up under the wheels of cars, risking to die from being crushed.
Fortunately, a local association and dozens of volunteers are taking care of them. But there are too many swifts to care for and feed. For this the activists have launched an urgent appeal, asking the citizens of Ragusa to join them in saving the birds that have fallen from the trees of the city.
