    The new research highlights one possible correlation between the early onset of menopause and the use of cosmetics of various kinds, which are often part of the daily life of women of all ages.

    Some of the common cosmetics may contain substances capable of anticipate menopause by up to 4 years compared to the average. It will be necessary to deepen the subject with further research, but in the meantime women could begin to pay more attention in the choice of cosmetics, especially from the point of view of quality and as regards the real needs of use of the same, the quantity and frequency. .

    In particular, some cosmetics may contain substances capable of alter ovarian function and anticipate the end of ovulation. The substances under accusation are not only found in cosmetics, but also in many detergents and objects of plastic. Their presence is in some cases out of control, for example with regard to air, water and land, which are contaminated by pollution.

    "What we have discovered is still an alarm bell and we will have to do further research to investigate the matter" - the researchers explained. It would not only be the problem of premature menopause, but also the possible influence of some substances present in cosmetics on the appearance of some cancers.

    Unwanted chemicals contained in cosmetics and plastics could anticipate menopause by 2 to 4 years due to a premature decline in ovarian function. The study in question was conducted by researchers from the Washington School of Medicine and was published in the journal Plos One with the title of "Persistent Organic Pollutants and Early Menopause in US Women".



    The experts referred to as many as 111 chemicals which they measured in the blood and urine of 31500 women. In cosmetics, nail polishes, liquid soaps, hair sprays, lotions, perfumes and plastics would be present 15 substances able to interfere with the regulation of hormones by our body.

    Among the substances under indictment we find 9 polychlorinated biphenyl (Pcb), 3 pesticides 2 phthalates and a toxic substance called furan. It has not yet been proven a cause-effect relationship between the use of cosmetics and premature menopause, but experts invite women to read the ingredient lists very carefully, even if most of the time unwanted substances do not represent real ingredients of cosmetics but "Pollutants" of the products themselves.


    Expert recommendations concern one more caution in the use of cosmetics by women. And what about the unwanted substances present in the plastic materials, the researchers suggest is to do not use plastic containers in the microwave, replacing them with suitable glass containers.
