Precarious work e fear of losing your job are among the factors that can favorincreased risk to get sick of bronchial asthma. The results of a German research have highlighted this. The increased risk of asthma can reach 24% and rise to 60% if unemployment is imminent.

Here is proof that factors external to physical discomfort can also lead to the onset of a disease such as asthma. The onset of this disorder would be the consequence of the stress and the fear of being unemployed, even higher in a time of crisis like this.

We can perhaps speak of the increased risk of asthma as one of the side effects of precariousness, in a world where the permanent job is now considered a mirage. The precarious work situation and fears of being unemployed also cause trough e insomnia.

The researchers of theUniversity of Dusseldorf, who have just published research on this in the British Medical Journal. The study evaluated a sample of 7000 subjects who were monitored over a 3-year period, between 2008 and 2011, right at the height of the European economic crisis.

The researchers noted the appearance of 105 new cases of asthma, which affected both men and women and which, according to experts, would be caused by the strong concern of losing their job. Those most at risk are low-income, young and single workers.

The new study confirms the correlation between stress and the onset of bronchial asthma, which had already been previously detected by the scientific world. Stress causes the immune system's inflammatory response to increase, leading to truly unpleasant symptoms. In any case, it is the first time that asthma has been linked to precariousness and the fear of losing one's job.
