    But how much? According to the study, adults need to move at least 150 minutes per week, an average of 30 minutes a day for 5 days, a figure that is doubled if you also need to lose weight.

    La search, carried out by scientists from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and Acms, monitored over 33 walkers and 15 joggers. Under the guidance of prof. Paul Williams, scholars have also managed to draw up a list of pathologies that physical activity done with this intensity manages to keep away.

    In addition to the obvious cardiovascular disease and diabetes, walking or running also reduces the colon cancer risk (up to 31% for women), but also to contract a breast cancer, in addition to the benefits for the musculoskeletal system and for the spine.

    The scientists compared data from nearly 8.500 men and over 33.500 women who participated in the National Walkers Health Study, dividing them into four groups based on the amount of physical activity they did.

    The results showed that those who walked the most had a third less risk of dying from one of these conditions during the study period. Because of this, according to Williams, there are "substantial health benefits" of exercising at least 2,5 hours per week.
