Do you prefer espresso or cappuccino? On the occasion of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) on October 1st, here's what your coffee tastes reveal about your personality according to a study

Coffee is not a drink like any other. For many it is a real ritual which would be impossible to give up, especially in the morning as soon as you wake up. But when it comes to coffee, woe to question your tastes: there are those who prefer espresso, others macchiato or cold. And nowadays the list of types of coffee is really long (unfortunately for the baristas!).

Not everyone knows, however, the way in which we prefer to drink this very popular drink, one of the most consumed in the world, reveals a lot about our personality. There are several experts who are convinced of this correlation between psychology and coffee. A section of the book “50 shades of coffee”, published by Edizioni Sonda, is also dedicated to this issue.

Having a coffee is a ritual, it marks the rhythms of the day - points out Dr. Ferdinando Pellegrino, psychiatrist and psychotherapist (in the interview included in the volume) - A good coffee to start, a good coffee for the due work break, a good coffee to sharing emotions with a nice person, a good coffee to cheer up. In short, there is always a good reason to take one.

An interesting study by Dr. Ramani Durvasula, American researcher and professor of Clinical Psychology at California State University, has focused on the link between psychological aspects and coffee, who conducted research on the correlation between eating habits and personality.

The survey was conducted on a sample of 1000 coffee drinkers and took into consideration various psychological traits including patience, sensitivity and confidentiality. Participants in the study were asked to answer some questions related to their favorite type of coffee, while others concerned the attitude shown in everyday situations: for example, how the waiting in a long line is dealt with, how dinners are organized and how it usually takes place on its own weekend.
