A paradise on earth, hidden in the heart of Bali's forests. A natural nest that moves away from the gray of the cities. Is called Panchoran (in Balinese spring) and is the perfect world for those tired of living in chaos. Here the Irish designer Linda Garland made hers Panchoran Retreat.

Literally a refuge, built using both the Bamboo which grows spontaneously in the area both i old telephone poles purchased by the local government. Tucked away within 25 acres of coconut palm groves near Ubud, Bali, Panchoran is a far cry from the cold metal or fluorescent lights of city centers. Here everything is warm, welcoming and made from natural materials, most of which recycled or locally sourced.

The five airy self-contained villas scattered across the forest rest on former telephone poles, and are made of bamboo and native herbs taken straight from the resort's courtyard. The woods in fact come from old houses the roofs are of reed, a grass that grows in the grounds of the estate. Each bungalow has a bed and is already equipped with sheets. It is enriched with rare Javanese antiques and primitive native art from the area.

Inside and out here is a relative concept. The houses have ample French doors sliding doors that remain open for most of the year, giving the idea of live in the open air but offering shelter in case of rain. Not missing a small one Swimmingpool made with natural materials, surrounded by greenery, sparkling waterfalls and organic gardens, where Garland grows rice, palm trees and medicinal plants.

Even the furnishings were almost all designed by the designer, like the two large bamboo sofas outside. Minimal furniture based on curtains and cushions. The gem is the Jungle Gym, an area dedicated to yoga, suspended like a bridge over the river.

Thanks to a small hydroelectric system, the designer has also started to produce electricity using the river water.
