tiny house. The fashion of the USA continues to drive the US crazy micro-case. The latest solution in terms of reducing living spaces comes from a group of students from Green Mountain College of Poultney, Vermont, who built a tiny unit just over 6 in size square meters, transportable like a caravan.

Made during a design / obstruction course in the second school semester of 2013, it's called OTIS (Optimal Traveling Independent Space) and is designed to be absolutely independent of any type of network. The small house, with its charming streamlined pod design, includes an iinternal hydraulic operator, with composting toilet and rainwater collection system, and a 120 watt solar panel to provide electricity.

The challenge for the class of 16 students was to be able to design and build one enough living space for one person, that could be easily towed by a typical 4-cylinder vehicle and independently provided water and electricity.

Professor Lucas Brown oversaw the students' progress, commenting on what he sees as the current reinterpretation of a happy life lived in a cluttered space by the new generation:

The charm of a more nomadic lifestylein fact, it represents a new aspect of the American dream for these young kids, eager to overturn the current model of suburban growth perpetuated over the past 50-60 years. They, the students, are not interested in being tied to a rent or a mortgage for life. Their priority is not where or how much space to live, but how.
