    Heart health would be favored by one optimistic outlook on life. The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Illinois. Experts examined the cardiovascular health of over 5000 adults.

    In particular, the researchers measured blood pressure, body mass index, blood glucose and cholesterol levels, as well as aspects such as eating habits, physical activity and tobacco use.

    Each aspect was assigned a score which led to evaluate overall cardiovascular health, with values ​​ranging from 0 to 14. Participants also completed questionnaires to assess their mental health, optimism and physical health.

    - authors of the study found that the most optimistic people had a 76% higher chance than the other evaluated subjects of achieving ideal scores in the health field with particular reference to the cardiovascular aspect.

    Simply put, people with the highest levels of optimism were more than twice as likely to achieve ideal cardiovascular health, as Rosalba Hernandez, lead author of the study, explained.

    In his opinion theassociation between optimism and heart health remains significant. Optimistic people had better cholesterol levels, exercised more and smoked less, or didn't smoke. The results obtained, according to experts, could have future implications for the evaluation of cardiovascular health.

    Lo study on optimism and heart health bears the title of "Optimism and Cardiovascular Health: Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA)" and was published in the scientific journal Health Behavior and Policy Review.
