The open source hive is equipped with special sensors that offer scientists the ability to monitor the health of bees and their number, to evaluate the levels of humidity and temperature and to collect the data necessary to understand the reasons for the decline of bees and the actions to be taken to protect them.
Open Source Beehives is a project born from the collaboration of a team of ecology and technology experts from Denver, Barcelona and Brussels. The hives they have designed are very different from the industrial ones, which could sometimes be made to obtain maximum honey production, without sufficiently taking into account the health of the bees.
