Il Noni (Morinda Citrifolia) is an evergreen tree native to the hot areas of Southeast Asia. From its fruit, yellow or green and oval in shape, a juice is obtained, known for its therapeutic properties.

With a dense consistency, dark brown color, a strong smell and a sour taste, noni juice is actually the subject of numerous controversies. The fruit is rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes, sterols and amino acids, but to keep costs down to the public and improve its organoleptic characteristics, the juice itself is often diluted with other fruit juices, losing much of its original qualities.

In any case, even if Noni is among the most beneficial fruits in the world, many of the medicinal properties of the juice advertised and which are applied to various diseases are the subject of verification in some scientific research.

Recently, the Food and Drug Administration, the world's leading food control body, has included Noni in GRAS (Generally Recognised as Safe), the list that records all substances recognized as safe for the world population. Additionally, the FDA itself has issued warnings to Noni manufacturers and distributors regarding reported health claims that are not yet scientifically proven.

In 2003, the European Commission authorized the marketing of Noni juice as "new food ingredient"And in the course of this procedure, the Scientific Committee for Food Products (SCF) found that the data provided did not constitute evidence of "particular beneficial effects of Noni juice, superior to those of other fruit juices".
