Now a activist group dell 'Maui island gave birth to one petition to give the green light to one temporary moratorium on GM crops and seeds, while an independent study will verify their environmental impact, in view of a permanent decision. Activists have already highlighted the increase in the use of pesticides and fertilizers, favored by biotech industries, which has occurred in recent years.
The petition will have to collect 8500 signatures among the inhabitants of the island by March 31 in order to be officially voted in the month of November. The multinationals are already in action to ascertain the restrictions on the use of pesticides and GMOs on the Hawaiian Islands, with particular reference to Syngenta, Basf, DuPont e Agrigenetics.
In their opinion, the laws already passed in Kauai would be unconstitutional but, as reported by Natural News, there is nothing unconstitutional in approving a proposal supported by the majority of citizens.
