When we think of padded jackets, goose feathers or synthetic materials come to mind, both of which are problematic. Feathers in fact cause exploitation and animal suffering, while synthetic fibers cause environmental pollution.

Pangaia, a company specializing in sustainable fashion, has found a much more sustainable solution to feathers and plastics, opting for an unusual alternative to use in the padding of its jackets.

It is a completely biodegradable material consisting of a mix of wildflowers, biopolymers and an airgel made of 85% recycled paper and the remainder from other renewable, non-toxic and biodegradable materials.

The company has spent the past 10 years developing one sustainable and cruelty-free technology for theand padding and today it sells online padded jackets with this particular patented material, which it guarantees impermeability and insulating power without compromising breathability.

I wildflowers used in upholstery they are grown with a certified regenerative agriculture method that does not require irrigation and which involves low CO2 emissions.

The species chosen for the fillings are allergenic and come from areas that help to protect and restore the natural habitats of butterflies.

Unfortunately, the vests are not completely plastic-free as the lining and outer shell are made of nylon and polyester.

Having found it a sustainable alternative to padding however, it represents a step forward and allows you to make cruelty free jackets limiting both the production of plastic and waste.
