After presenting the new biodegradable retina al Salone del Gusto 2010, Novamont the development of its products continues in Second generation mater-bi and so on Fierce K dedicated to plastic and rubber that is taking place a Dusseldorf will present a preview until 3 November clinging, new fully compostable stretch film for food because it is derived from raw materials of renewable origin.

Designed to be used with all kinds of food even those with high fat content such as oils, sauces or butter, the new bioplastic film can be safely disposed of as organic waste in the waste bin.

Thin, resistant and extendable like the traditional films currently on the market, this product developed by Novamont together with its partners, unlike the latter, it does not contain plasticizers or additives which could be transmitted in foods, thus resulting too safer for health.

After a long study and taking into account various reference standards, Cling was born, a film that not only manages to recreate the same transparency as those commonly used, but in the easier it is to tear by hand even without the aid of a hacksaw and, therefore, more comfortable and safe.

Moreover, thanks to its specific formulation it is highly permeable to water vapor and therefore allows the evaporation of the condensate that generally forms on hot foods when they are placed in the refrigerator (water vapor transmission rate, WVTR) allowing the fresh foods to keep longer.

But that's not all because Novamont will amaze the German public with another new biodegradable packaging in Mater-Bi: Naturene developed in collaboration with Safta, a historic company in the world of flexible packaging.

Heat resistant and easily printable, Naturene is a laminate that biodegrades in just 12 weeks according to the EN13432 standard and which guarantees a high barrier to oxygen and water vapor, the factors that contribute most to undermine fresh food. Adapting to most of the lines of SBB automatic packaging, Naturene can be used for both food and non-food applications such as coffee, sugar, baked goods, snacks, etc., dry pet food or powdered detergents.

Proof that another (more sustainable and environmentally friendly) packaging is possible!
