What are Epsom salts and where to find them

What exactly are Epsom salts and where do they come from? The name is linked to the city of origin of the salts, which is located in Great Britain. Also known as English salts or bitter salts, are a mineral of the epsomite group. It is, therefore, a magnesium sulfate heptahydrate available in nature, but which can also be artificially reproduced.
Epsom salts are used in cosmetics being an excellent ally for the beauty of skin and hair, but their use has spread and rediscovered also for plant care, since they favor chlorophyll synthesis, they help in flowering and remove parasites. They are a perfect natural fertilizer for flowers, especially flowers pink, i tomatoes and peppers, which at the end of the season may show signs of magnesium deficiency, starting with yellowing leaves.
Epsom salts are very simple to use, being water soluble, and can be purchased in pharmacies, herbalists and online stores.

Natural fertilizer with epsom salts
Epsom salts can be really precious for our plants, which will come out more resistant and luxuriant. Using this low-cost, natural fertilizer is super easy. Here's what you need:
- 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts
- About 4 liters of water
- A watering can
Just dissolve a tablespoon of Epsom salts in four scarce liters of water and water the plants. It is advisable to repeat the treatment at least once a month for it to be really effective. After a while you will notice small improvements.
In particular:
- Better flowering of the plant;
- Leaves with a greener color
- More luxuriant plant
This is because Epsom salt is made up of hydrated magnesium sulfate (magnesium and sulfur), which is important for healthy plant growth: magnesium allows plants to better absorb valuable nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus as well as greatly improving the ability of a plant to produce flowers and fruits.
