Music from around the world to save endangered birds

Music from around the world to save endangered birds

A group of artists mixes electronic music with songs from endangered birds and makes albums to fund conservation programs

A group of musicians and composers has started a truly original musical project, in order to protect the many species of endangered birds.

By sampling the song of the birds they created unpublished tracks, where electronic and natural sounds mix to generate unique melodies.

The project, called “A Guide to Birdsong” was born in 2015 by the English composer Robin Perkins and, since then, has already given birth to two albums.

The first, focused on South American species, was very successful and managed to raise over 15 thousand dollars, which were then donated to two organizations involved in conservation of birdsi.

Now Perkins has published the second album which includes ten tracks with the songs of the birds that inhabit the natural areas of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Towards a world without birds: up to half of the most common birds have disappeared in recent decades

To make the two albums, Perkins worked with ten artists from the regions involved, who are committed to record the sound of birds belonging to nearly threatened, threatened and endangered species.

The result can be heard on Spotify and is extraordinary: a real one fusion of electronic music and sounds of nature.

Profits raised from the new album will go to three initiatives focused on cconservation of various bird species which inhabit the natural areas of Central America and the Caribbean, threatened by deforestation.

The money will finance environmental education and birdwatching promotion programs, training courses for the training of local nature guides and construction of aviaries to help the injured specimens.

This is one of the songs composed by The Garifuna Collective, one of the groups involved in the project
