Spring has now come at its best. If you haven't started your garden yet, it's time to move on. What to sow in May

The month of May is a real one sowing party, to finally be carried out directly in the vegetable garden or in the pots placed on the balcony, on the windowsill, on the terrace or in the garden. It is possible to sow numerous summer vegetables, such as courgettes, aubergines, peppers and tomatoes, or transplant them. As for the fruits, watermelons and melons are sown and blueberries are transplanted. Between herbs it is possible to sow basil and parsley.

Tips for sowing and transplanting

As for sowing, it is recommended to sow in the seedbed, to be placed outdoors, however, protecting the shoots from excessively direct sun: early cauliflowers, cabbages and savoy cabbage. It is possible to sow directly outdoors in the open ground, among others: beans, green beans, peas, lettuce, cut lettuce, rocket, chard, melons, watermelons, beets, asparagus, carrots, tomatoes, endive. Classic courgettes, round courgettes and peppers can be sown in seedbeds for convenience. You can proceed to transplant than previously grown in seedbeds, for example: zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, celery, chillies, aubergines, endive, basil, cucumbers.



The harvest of the month of May

If the sowings carried out previously have been successful, perhaps also thanks to the use of seedbeds, in order to protect the sprouts and seedlings from a climate that is not always exactly spring, a rich harvest for the May. Both vegetables, aromatic herbs and seasonal fruit will be harvested. Whoever is lucky enough to cure a frutteto he will be able to harvest, for example, apricots, medlars, the first peaches, strawberries, pears, cherries, lemons and grapefruits. There will be many seasonal vegetables, with particular reference to spinach and asparagus. Vegetable garden on the balcony in May

THEvegetable garden on the balcony of May will be able to host numerous aromatic herbs, purchased or sown previously, such as basil, rosemary, chives, oregano, marjoram, parsley and mint. Crescent moon

During the growing moon it is recommended to sow in seedbeds early cauliflower, cabbage and savoy cabbage. According to the peasant tradition it is preferable to resort to sowing in the growing moon, directly in the vegetable garden o in pot (when possible) of: zucchini, cucumbers, melons, endive, aubergines, lettuce, peppers, celery, tomatoes, chillies, squash and parsley. In the frutteto waning moon days are preferable for blueberry and olive tree transplant.

In the days of a waning moon, peasant tradition recommends proceeding with the sowing outdoors endive, cabbage, baby lettuce, chard, radishes and spinach. It is also the right time to place the supports for vegetables who need it, such as tomatoes, beans and peas, if the seedlings are already growing. Yes they can tamp down potatoes, parsley, beans, peppers, tomatoes and peas. As for flowers, indoor plants can be repotted and geraniums can be moved outside, onto the windowsill or balcony.
