Like other tools of the Montessori method, the realization of the wheel for learning colors starts from objects that are part of daily life with which children should also have the opportunity to come into contact.

It is about clothespins to hang out the laundry. If we already have wooden clothespins at home, because we have replaced them with plastic clothespins, here is an excellent opportunity to think about creative recycling and to reuse them in a really fun way for children, both at home and at school. .

    2) Learn to match an object to the corresponding color.
    3) Refine hand-eye coordination.

Now let's see very simply how to make the wheel to learn colors. Children should use the color wheel under the supervision of their parents or teachers.

    You will need:

    - 1 base of cardboard or plywood
    - 10 wooden clothespins
    - Tempera or acrylic colors
    - Markers

Start with a round base of plywood or cardboard that you will have to divide into 10 wedges of the same size. Paint each wedge with a different color and each of the clothespins with a corresponding color. When the gouache is dry, you can also write the name of the colors on the clothespins, with a felt-tip pen.

Writing the name of the color is optional, but it may be useful for helping children learn to read. The game it takes place correctly when the child matches the clip to the segment of the corresponding color and when, after a few attempts, he is able to associate the name of the color to the clip and the segment.

This game it is suitable for all children who have not yet learned or who are learning to recognize colors.

This system can be especially useful if you have to make many wheels, for example for the pupils of one or more classes. Otherwise, if you want to create only one color wheel, we suggest you have fun with tempera and markers with the little ones of the house.
