Babies with loving mothers will be healthier in the future. Having good memories has a positive effect on the health and well-being of tomorrow's adults

If there was still a need for confirmation, now comes a new study that proves it once again: mom's love makes children healthier and less prone to being depressed in the future life, "because happy memories encourage them to live better."

In short, as adults, those who have had very loving mothers will be more likely to be disease-free and less at risk of depression. To say this are researchers from Michigan State University who analyzed data from the National Survey of Midlife Development in the United States and the Health and Retirement Study. Combined, these included more than 22 people.

Not only the cuddles are from support for the development of the brain of the little ones e they leave a trace in their DNA, but they are also able to act as a real cure against physical discomfort and to guarantee iron health.

The first study followed adults born in the mid-40s for 18 years, while the second followed those aged 50 or older for six years. In both trials, participants were asked how well their parents understood their problems as children, as well as how much affection they had received and whether they suffered from conditions such as thyroid, diabetes or hypertension.

Depressive symptoms were assessed by asking if they had had any of the following experiences in the past few weeks: loss of interest in things, low energy, poor appetite, insomnia, reduced concentration, sadness, and thoughts of death.

The results showed that participants who remembered receiving high levels of affection from their mothers were healthier and less prone to depression. And not only that: the intake of supportive and loving fathers also reduced the risk of depressive symptoms.

“We know that memory plays a huge role in how we make sense of the world, how we organize our past experiences and how we judge how we should act in the future - explains lead author William Chopik. Consequently, there are many different ways our past memories can guide us ”.

In short, it seems that good memories have a positive effect on health and well-being, reduce stress and help make healthy choices in life.

Not only that: these memories would also guarantee one better physical and mental health even in old age.

In any case, although this study found that a mother's love shapes a child's future more than a father's, Dr. Chopik is keen to point out that this could change.

“These findings may reflect the broader cultural circumstances of the time the participants were raised because mothers were more likely to be the primary caregivers. While with the change in cultural norms on the role of fathers in caregiving, it is possible that the results of future studies on people born in more recent years will focus more on relationships with their fathers ”.

Love, in short, only love is the key word: whether it is mom or dad, or rather both, always and constantly and only love guarantees a healthy and above all peaceful life.
