Megane Markle, Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, returns to be talked about but this time not for her private life or for relations with the royal family. The Duchess has decided to launch into a new business and become an entrepreneur in the natural wellness sector.

Megane is investing in Clevr Blends, an American start-up, all female, which produces instant oat milk, defined as "milk of well-being", some variants are in fact enriched for example with matcha or turmeric (creating a variant of golden milk to which adaptogen mushrooms, probiotics and more are added).

Helping the Duchess in her first official investment is American TV star Oprah Winfrey.

In a statement announcing her decision to invest in the brand, led by co-founder and CEO Hannah Mendoza, Meghan stressed her interest in supporting companies founded by women. The Duchess told Fortune:

“I am proud to invest in Hannah's commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and has a holistic approach to wellness".

Meghan's interest in the wellness sector is known and the Duchess first wrote about natural health in a blog, “The Tig” (now closed), dedicated to the correct lifestyle. You have also talked about your passion for yoga several times.

Meghan contacted the Clevr team after trying the company's oat milk, which debuted in a pop-up café in Santa Barbara in 2017. The Southern California company is based near Montecito, where Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, moved out earlier this year.

Among their neighbors is Oprah Winfrey, a well-known American TV presenter and author who showed instant oat milk on her Instagram profile followed by 19 million followers.

Clevr plans to use the investment made by the Duchess (whose extent is unknown) to expand its business, which currently sells four different types of instant oat milk as well as a cappuccino machine (oatmeal of course. ) and a travel mug.

The brand has also pledged to donate 1% of revenue to organizations fighting for food justice in the United States, money that currently goes to El Centro SB in Santa Barbara, a mutual aid and community organization.

Obviously, the visibility offered by the news of Meghan's investment and the publicity from Oprah, have made the products sell out so much that the company has had to communicate that orders may not arrive before Christmas.
