Thanks to a collaboration with DDB, McDonald's has decided to start a project focused on bartering and recycling. The fast food chain has decided to make special bags for waste collection available to customers.

Normal empty cans of soft drinks can be placed in the bags. Delivering 10 cans you receive in exchange a hamburger or cheeseburger, while with 40 cans here is a prize Big Mac.

For McDonald's, empty cans become a real one exchange currency "To help penniless young people and the environment". Of course, McDonald's will still make a profit, because delivering the cans to collection points for recycling will convert them into cash.

The project is linked to the numerous festivals and concerts that take place in Stockholm and in which a large number of young people participate. At the end of the events, unfortunately the places where they take place resemble real landfills.

So here is the idea of prompting the participants to collect the cans and return them to the fast food restaurant to receive a hamburger free. An example of incentive collection which rewards multinationals and which in no way takes into account the importance of a healthy diet.

We ask ourselves: Does this initiative really encourage recycling and separate collection or it simply stimulates the consumption of canned sodas and fast food foods?
