The author of the experiment is David Whipple, who presented his hamburger purchased in 1999, and who is now 14 years old, during the Paramount CBS TV broadcast “The Doctors”. He said he initially decided to keep the hamburger sandwich to show his friends how the preservatives and enzymes worked to keep it looking good for a long time.
Lo receipt preserved by Whipple speaks for itself. The hamburger was purchased on July 7, 1999. It seems that he forgot that he had kept his purchase aside for many years and that he later found it again in perfect state of conservation. Over the course of fourteen years, the appearance of the sandwich would remain the same at the time of purchase and not even those bad smells that everyone would expect would form.
Those who were present during the television show, doctors and experts, were able to observe the burger closely, realizing that there were no signs of mold and unpleasant odors. The man said he used the hamburger stored for fourteen years as a warning to encourage his children to eat healthily.
The burger was stored inside his original packaging, together with the now dated receipt. Whipple's intent was to keep it for just one month, to amaze friends, but things have obviously gone differently and now the 14-year-old burger is leaving junk food consumers - and not only - speechless. Worldwide.
This is not the first experiment of its kind, although it is the attempt, albeit accidental, to preserve a hamburger with the longest shelf life in the world. Already in 2010 we presented an experiment conducted by Joann Bruso, which had decided to keep the contents of a Happy Meal, including burger sandwich and fries. Spent twelve months of waiting, the appearance of the food remained the same at the time of purchase, without mold or bad odors. Who will still have the courage to consume hamburgers and fries, which thanks to an unknown alchemy of ingredients can be preserved intact not only for a year, but rather, for over a decade?
