Great news for Studio Ghibli fans. Hayao Miyazaki is returning from "retirement" to direct a new film.

This was confirmed by the New York Times: the director of The Enchanted City, My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke is about to return with a new animated film.

Miyazaki's new directing project is an adaptation of the 1937 book How Do You Live? By writer Genzaburō Yoshino. It is a coming-of-age story about a 15-year-old boy, Koperu, who lives in Tokyo (Japan) with his uncle.

Not much is known about Miyazaki's new project, which arrives seven years after the release of Si alza il vento, in theaters in 2014, considered the director's latest work. A few years ago, he had deployed Ponyo on the cliff. However, we can already imagine finding this attention to the details of the characters and the richness of the landscapes, which contributed to making him a full-fledged painter of Japan and its mythologies.

The last film made by Studio Ghibli, however, was Earwig and the Witch. The film is directed by director Gorō Miyazaki's son. Unlike the rest of the studio titles, this film was created using 3D animation.
