Maternity leave
The five months of abstention from work, the so-called compulsory maternity leave, could change its appearance. Today, pregnant women are banned from working the two months prior to the date of delivery and the three following (2 + 3), although they can postpone maternity to the beginning of the ninth month upon presentation of a medical certificate (1 + 4). .
From next year, however, they will be able to choose to take advantage of the 5 months of abstention from work after birth to stay with the child, working until the day of birth. In any case, you will need the doctor's ok.

News on this front too. Introduced in 2017, the nursery bonus currently provides a maximum reimbursement of 1000 euros for children who attend a public or private nursery agreement. In total it is about 91 euros for 11 months.
The amount available will instead increase to 1.500 euros, again on an annual basis and is extended to each year of the 2019-2021 three-year period. 2022 euros per year.
Mandatory paternity leave
Little consolation for the new fathers who, instead of the current 4, will have 5 days of leave after the birth of the child. Just one day more than in the past.
Agile work
In the case of “agile” work agreements, ie without time or place constraints, employers will be obliged to give priority to requests from mothers with children under three and from parents of disabled children. Furthermore, the Family Card, which provides discounts and tariff reductions for families with more than three dependent children, will be distributed up to the age of 26 of the children, no longer up to the age of 18.
