Le lotus leaves like street furniture, design ed environmental sustainability. These are the objectives of the Lotus project, a modular system powered by photovoltaic panels designed by the architect's studio Giancarlo Zema for the Bergamo-based company LumineXence and supported by a pool of companies operating in the sector of technological solutions at the service of renewable energies.

The Lotus project is being presented these days to the Sustainability Conference at the 'Energy Park of Vimercate (Monza - Brianza).

The facility, created to offer a range of uses, from installation in rest areas to bus stops, to charging stations for electric cars, was born from the search for a lightweight design, formal, which harmonizes with the environment.

The particularly eye-catching shapes of Lotus were inspired by the leaves of the lotus; the modular structure is made up of a base element in the form of a support to which three tubular steel “frames” have been applied. Two of these slender modules house gods photovoltaic panels (from 500W to 2,8 kW depending on the size of each "leaf", ranging from 4 to 19 square meters); the third, thanks to a series of LEDs, was designed to illuminate the surrounding environment.

Among the strengths of Lotus, the possibility of being employed as charging station for electric cars, thanks to an info point system with Scame socket watertight and payment software by debit or credit card. An opportunity for the local administrations of create the necessary infrastructure for the truly zero-emission electric revolution and at the same time paint the city green.
