What happens when an internationally renowned architect and a talented photographer collaborate to the design and construction of a winter shelter? An incredibly welcoming and architecturally splendid structure is born, located in the heart of the Pilis forest, near Budapest, in Hungary.

Bence Turanyi from T2.a Architects and photographer Zsolt Batar worked together on the small 120 square meter cabin, made in just two days. Their aim was to create a unique, eco-sustainable building of excellent quality and achievable in the shortest possible time.

The structure consists of prefabricated wood panels, which made the whole assembly process quick and efficient. The two-story house, with a modern and rustic exterior and an equally welcoming and hospitable interior, as for any self-respecting traditional mountain cabin. The living room and dining room are located on the ground floor, while the two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the upper floor.

Wood panels line interior walls, ceilings and floors throughout the house, while the windows are strategically placed around the building to allow an optimal view of the surrounding forest.

As the owner and co-designer of the house, Batar created a photographic series to document the daily relationship between the structure and the forest, in every season.

He explains that his home is much more than an architectural or photographic project, but the sentimental result of two minds joined together. "When two different ways of thinking meet, the result is something completely new", concludes agreeing Turanyi.
