Little Gabriele, suffering from a very rare disease, is safe: he has found a donor despite the very low chances of identifying him.

We had already talked about little Gabriele by launching an appeal to find him a marrow donor who would save his life. The chances of identifying it were very low, 1 in 100.000, but thanks to the strength of sharing, Gabry will be saved.

Suffering from Sifd, a very rare disease of which there are about 20 cases worldwide, Gabriele has found his perfect donor, which was found to be 100% compatible, after trying in vain with her healthy twin, genetically incompatible like mom and dad.

The turning point came after months of suffering and disappointments, in fact in August his health conditions had worsened and the doctors had told his parents that the only hope was the marrow, as specified on facebook:

Unfortunately the disease did not stop… in August it continued to come forward: Gabry will have a bone marrow transplant. The news was tough, but it was also accompanied by an enormous emotion: it would seem that there is a compatible #GIVER. We don't know if this person was #contagated by Gabry's story or by the contagion of some other little hero. The important thing is that it is there, and that it is the one in 1 we were looking for square by square.

Who knows, maybe it was also thanks to the fb page dedicated to him by his parents, "Gabry little hero", if they found him, and to the support received from Admo, Association of bone marrow donors, to which all those who meet certain requirements of health and age can apply to become a donor.

And now that the good news has arrived, his parents have no intention of stopping, aware that it is essential to fight for other children in similar conditions.

In the meantime, Gabriele will undergo a blood replacement and it will take some time for the therapy to finish and he can say he is totally safe. But the big part is done, good luck Gabry!
