Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerousWith his little lion dress he smiles happily, celebrating the first serene carnival. Little Alex, Alessandro Maria Montresor, seems to be doing much better after the bone marrow transplant surgery in December.
The little boy had triggered a real solidarity contest a few months ago, when his parents were desperate for a bone marrow donor compatible with that of the child, who was then one and a half years old. Aided by Admo, the Bone Marrow Donors Association, mum and dad living in London have done everything possible to save their little one from haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, also known as HLH, a genetic disease that affects only 0,002% of children.
The time available to Alex was very little. Eventually, he underwent a delicate stem cell transplant from his parents, in which he received blood cells from his father.
Today the child is fine and celebrates the carnival as many of his peers do, masking himself. His disguise reflects his strength.
“For my first carnival I couldn't help but dress up as my favorite animal !!! GRRRRRRRR " it is read on the page dedicated to Alex.
A beautiful image of hope, which can sustain the many, too many parents who today have to deal with the illness of their children.
Alex teaches us that even when the chances of succeeding are very few, we must not give up.
