So the supermarket chain Lidl is trying to push its employees to get the vaccine, offering as much as 200 dollars that in lean times like the ones we are experiencing could be tempting to many.

The initiative currently concerns the United States, where almost 25 million have been infected since the beginning of the pandemic and 406 thousand have died. Numbers that are scary and that are also pushing large retailers to take decisive action to counter the spread of the coronavirus.

According to Lidl USA, the decision to provide financial incentives for its workers serves to protect their health:

“As states make COVID-19 vaccines more widely available, Lidl USA today announced a new initiative to encourage their employees to get the vaccine. Lidl will give $ 200 in extra salary to all Lidl employees in the United States who choose to do so. The additional payment will help offset the costs associated with vaccine administration, including travel expenses and childcare. The company will also host employee programs for vaccine appointments ”reads the official statement.

In addition, Lidl offered full medical coverage to all full-time and part-time employees last January, regardless of the number of hours worked per week. And in March, it developed the first program to offer workers free access to medical coverage for COVID-19.

In the US, we remind you, access to medical care is entirely the responsibility of the citizen who can only be treated if he has taken out insurance coverage or if he can pay for any visits, health services and interventions.

“We are proud to provide our employees with the resources they need to receive the COVID-19 vaccine unhindered,” said Johannes Fieber, CEO of Lidl USA. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have worked hard to put the health and safety of our employees first. From offering free COVID-19 healthcare to our entire workforce, to installing hospital-grade air filtration systems in our stores and warehouses to ensure cleaner, healthier air, Lidl has made it a priority to adapt our policies to work better for our people during this pandemic. We are proud to do so today to ensure that every member of the team who wants to get vaccinated is able to do it as soon as possible. "

According to an internal survey, Lidl employees are eager to receive the vaccine. Almost 8 out of 10 of them plan to do so as soon as it becomes available.
