Levi's that has given new life to old jeans by reusing them as fabric for the eco-sneackers of the new Levi's Red Tab collection.

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

We are not collectors of jeans but that pair of Levi's, even if now out of fashion, 3 sizes larger and obviously used and overused we just couldn't throw it away. It lies at the bottom of the wardrobe as a reminder of the history of the legendary denim, waiting for an event (perhaps an 80's party) in which to readjust it and finally re-wear it. An alternative and above all an excellent way to reduce the impact of the fashion trade on the environment, is provided by Levi's itself which has revived old jeans reusing them as fabric for the eco-sneackers of the new Levi's Red Tab collection.

The model is that old school Converse loved, and not only, in the past by Levi's. For each pair of shoes, one of a kind, you need a pair of jeans of which all its components are reused including buttons, zips and even pockets.

The origin of the denim is uncertain but most likely it could be the remains of those collected with the initiative Levi’s Exchange Program, an event that took place in April during which Levi's customers were encouraged to part with their old and much-loved pair of jeans in exchange for a 20% discount for each new pair purchased. While those in good condition were donated to Goodwill Industries, a network of independent organizations in the United States, Canada and 14 other countries that helps people with disabilities, uneducated, low-wage workers and other job seekers by providing services of education, career, as well as job placement opportunities and post-employment support. To pay for its programs, Goodwill Industries sells clothes and other household items in more than 2.200 stores. The donated Levi's were sold by Goodwill's retail and online network of stores to fund vocational training programs and job creation.

Nothing official yet, but the unsold part of the jeans from this initiative seems to have been recycled for the creation of these Converse style shoes that are not yet available on the American market, but only in Australia and New Zealand at a price of approx. $ 100 for the high version it's about $ 90 for the low one.
