How nice it would be if our children and our kids could go back to school for just one day. At least those who finish a cycle this year, the children of the fifth elementary school, the children of the third middle school or the last year of the high school, could have the possibility at least for a few hours to see their classmates again in the classroom.
It is the thought of all parents after this long period of lockdown. The closure of schools has also meant for many to deal with the discontent of their children, forced from one day to the next to say goodbye to their everyday life. And no one knows for how long.
It wasn't easy. It is not easy. Knowing that your child completing a cycle this year will not have that gradual process of greetings and sharing, of joys and fears, of moving to another school, is something that tears the heart. They are "little people", to quote Alemagna and one of her fantastic books (What is a child), and as such they experience anguish and fears like any adult.
After months in which the children, alas, were little or not at all mentioned in the various decrees and political debates, now, at the end of a ramshackle school year, it seems there are finally those who also consider the issue of back to school. Delicate? Of course. But absolutely necessary.
