No consequence for Walter Palmer, the American dentist who killed Cecil, the lion symbol of Zimbabwe? Palmer is now in the United States and has announced that he will soon be returning to work in his own dental practice.

The man, after taking shelter for more than a month to escape protests and threats, he decided to go back to work from tomorrow in your dental office on the outskirts of Minneapolis.

The absurd story of the lion Cecil and his killing for a hunting trophy in recent weeks has been around the world. In a joint interview with the Associated Press and the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Palmer stated that believes that he has acted legally and that he was truly amazed after discovering that he had killed one of the most important animals for Zimbabwe.

He explained that if he had known that this lion represented the symbol of Zimbabwe, he would not have become his hunting prey. According to his words, no one in his hunting party knew the lion's name or his worth.

In Zimbabwe everyone knew Cecil: he lived in the national park of hwange and the University of Oxford had equipped him with a GPS collar. Palmer said he hit the lion with an arrow from his bow outside the park boundaries.

Some Zimbabwean officials they requested Palmer's extradition but at the moment no formal act has been made public that obliges him to return to Africa.

We do not yet know what the legal consequences of his action are, but on a moral level the American dentist and hunter has been strongly criticized. Palmer has received numerous threats over the past six weeks. He did not disclose where he spent this period of time and now he has simply pointed out to the US press that he feels ready to go back to work.

His studio has reopened its doors in recent days still in the absence of the dentist. In front of the studio there was no lack of demonstrations. The police intervened to verify that everything was in order. Those present demanded that Palmer be brought to justice and wondered why this was not happening yet.

In Zimbabwe the man would have paid thousands of dollars to be able to participate in a guided hunt. The professional hunter Theo Bronkhorst, who contributed to the incident, was accused of failing to prevent illegal hunting.

Palmer explained that he had already been to Zimbabwe on other occasions just to participate in hunting trips and that he had always respected the law. The American dentist had already found himself in a similar situation in the past.

In 2008 during a hunting trip accidentally hit a bear in Wisconsin with his own rifle and was sentenced to pay one fine of 3000 dollars by local authorities. Cecil's story sparked a heated debate on hunting in Africa and the laws that protect lions, elephants and leopards from hunters. Will Palmer pay for the death of the lion Cecil?
