A story full of hope. Badger is now helping to catch criminals and protect citizens in the UK.

Badger was one of four six-week-old cocker spaniels discovered abandoned in 2019 in a garden in Surrey, a county of England. The puppies were found in extremely poor health, were malnourished, had scabies and chronic eye and ear infections. But life had other plans in store for them, especially Badger.

A British animal rights organization welcomed and rescued them. After weeks of care and treatment, the puppies - who initially had the names of Stranger Things characters: El, Lucas, Mike and Dustin (now renamed Badger) - were adopted. Everything was fine in their loving new homes, except for Dustin, who was brought back.

“Dustin was always on the go and needed constant stimulation, this was too much for his adopters, so he came back to us. We kept him busy by hiding tennis balls in the centers and playing with smells. He loved it and was really good at following his nose and finding them, so we contacted the police to see if they were interested in hiring him as a new recruit! ”Explained Jo Douglas of Millbrook Animal Center.

It's been six months since Badger got the official title of police dog. Steph Barrett, the police officer in charge of our four-legged agent says that, after much love and training, he has managed to regain his trust in humans.

This happy ending story is undoubtedly another example of the nobility and loving capacity of animals.
