    Behind this vulvar pain there are those who cannot get out of bed because of the pangs, those who hide the pain in the workplace every day, those who cry with joy because they finally manage to live their sexuality peacefully, those who cannot even sit down, those who he no longer recognizes himself and struggles every day to find himself, who is finally improving, who has to face the relational problems connected to vulvodynia.





    There is a movement of women (including Giorgia Soleri) that is raising a flood of voices against the invisibility of a disease that has far from low incidence rates. They are not even more so for women, always them to pay greater and worse consequences.

    For this reason, having vulvodynia, pudendal neuropathy and fibromyalgia recognized as chronic and disabling diseases is the goal of the motion that the Lazio councilor Marta Bonafoni presented yesterday to the Regional Council.

    The motion was unanimously approved, making Lazio a de facto state-of-the-art Region on this issue, together with Lombardy, which last December committed itself to allocating funds to guarantee access to care for those who she suffers from the so-called "female" diseases.

    Diseases which, as the Vulvodynia and Pudendal Neuropathy Committee reminds us, actually concern all genders, although they affect people assigned female at birth to a greater extent.

    “Vulvodynia is also called 'distancing disease'. Because when you live and live with pathologies like these, you have to deal not only with physical pain, but above all with emotional pain. You feel defective, less of a woman, alone. You tell it and often they don't believe you and the discomfort increases.
    And it increases the damn stigma. For this reason it is even more important to guarantee adequate assistance, for this vulvodynia, pudendal neuropathy and fibromyalgia must be included in the Essential Assistance Levels (LEA) ”, concludes Bonafoni.
