Keeping a plant indoors improves the quality of the air (and our skin), the new confirmation

Houseplants make your home air more humid, while also providing benefits to the skin.

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

They purify the air in the rooms we live in, improve health and also make our skin more beautiful and hydrated. Whether it is an ivy, a dracaena or a peace lily, the plants in the house improve the quality of the air by making it more humid and thus proving to be a natural remedy against dryness of the skin and respiratory tract.

The confirmation comes from a new analysis by British scientists from the University of Reading and the Royal Horticultural Society, who conducted a study on various plants and how the air around them changes. In particular, they found that i peace lilies (spathiphyllum) from l'ivy (hedera) would be the best because capable of absorbing very large amounts of CO2 and water.

Previous studies have already found that some plants are better than others at removing the main category of household pollutants, i volatile organic compounds (VOCs), so with certain plants the air in the house becomes cleaner and safer.

Now, according to the new research, plants with high rates of transpiration, ie the “thirsty” plants that require more water to grow well, are also able to provide good benefits thanks to the humidity they generate. Higher humidity in the air, for example, means that the skin is wetter and less likely to dry out.

"Houseplants can be a simple and affordable way to reduce the dryness of the indoor air and relieve the symptoms of dry skin, while providing many other benefits for the human psyche and physical health," explains Tijana Blanusa, expert of the University of Reading.

At the same time, plants also absorb CO2 from the air around them, enriching it with vital oxygen for the human body: an effect that, in the opinion of the researchers, could be more pronounced when there are larger plants living in well-lit conditions. and well watered.

What are you waiting for then? They are beautiful, they create an enveloping atmosphere and are furnishing: add one - or more than one - of these houseplants in the home, here are the most effective in purifying the air!
